The deputy councilor pointed out that the Constitutional Organic Law of Municipality itself establishes that “in the case of impediment of a period of more than 45 days to exercise the function of mayor, what is appropriate is the election of a mayor as a substitute, a function that “It is up to the full Municipal Council.”
Pávez clarifies that, based on the judicial resolution that became enforceable on Monday, the 10 councilors will be summoned to an extraordinary session, to elect the substitute mayor, scheduled until Thursday, April 25, when the deadline expires, but said summons has not been made. precisely set, but clarified that it will not go beyond that day.
At the meeting with the press, the presence of the councilors, María del Carmen Orueta, Emerson Avendaño, Hugo Guzmán, Viviana Morales, Cristian Toledo, Manuel Villagra, Carlos Arellano and Patricio Henríquez, was also observed, with Jacqueline Vidal being the only one absent.
Finally, Pavez indicated that the new alternate mayor is elected in the first instance by an absolute majority of incumbent councilors; That is, with the votes of six councilors, the new municipal authority is elected.
