The Indonesian national team will face Myanmar in the Group A match for the football sport SEA Games 2021 at Di Viet Tri, Phu To, Sunday (15/5/2022) afternoon WIB. Both teams are aiming for points in an attempt to qualify from the group stage.

The top position of the standings is temporarily occupied by hosts Vietnam, which in its last match will face caretaker Timor Leste.
Mathematically, Vietnam is not certain to qualify. If Timor Leste surprises by winning four or five goals without reply, and Indonesia vs Myanmar ends in a draw, it will also have an impact on points and goal difference — so that Vietnam still has the potential to be shifted by Indonesia and Myanmar. But realistically, Vietnam on paper will have no trouble serving Timor Leste, which so far has routinely been a goal granary for Group A teams.
Regardless of what the result of Vietnam against Timor Leste, Indonesian National Team U-23 basically just need a draw against Myanmar to be able to ensure a ticket to qualify for the 2021 SEA Games semifinals.
PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan expressed optimism that his squad Shin Tae-yong would be able to overcome Myanmar, after seeing the performance Indonesian National Team U-23 when crushing the Philippines 4-0.
“Thank God we were able to win big 4-0. The game also continues to improve. Cooperation also looks neat between players,” said the PSSI chairman.
“One more (match), against Myanmar in the group stage, which we have to win. I believe by looking at this performance, we can beat Myanmar and make sure to qualify for the semifinals.”
