On December 21, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn will reach a conjunction that occurs once every 20 years.
The sky will be decorated with apparitions of Jupiter and Saturn the closest to Earth since the last 800 years.
Interestingly, this year, this phenomenon is not only the winter solstice, but also its closest parallel since 1226.
By parallel conjunction, Jupiter and Saturn will look like a double planet.
“The conjunction between these two planets (Jupiter and Saturn) are rather rare, occurring only once every 20 years or so, “said astronomer Patrick Hartigan of Rice University.
“However, the conjunctions that have occurred this year are the rarest because the two planets are closest to Earth, “he added as reported by IFL Science, Monday (23/11/2020).
Patrick Hartigan said, this kind of phenomenon last occurred on March 4, 1226 long before dawn.
