The Zurich Schauspielhaus has been criticized: the number of season tickets has decreased, the bourgeois audience is alienated from the progressive theater. After a week in the theater it is clear why.
The theater is not dead, as the theater directors have already shown. But in Zurich it takes place next to the stage, outside the home, in the form of a heated debate. Is madness happening at the Schauspielhaus woker or is it just contemporary, including stage art? Is it a theater for everyone or is the city subsidizing a sectarian social experiment with around 40 million francs a year? Do you work here for the people of the present or rather for the people of the future?
