Two goals were scored by Danish representative Robert Skov, who converted a foul penalty in the first half and a hand ball in the second. Israeli midfielder Munas Dabbur also scored in the first half.
Hoffenheim won after three games and brought one point ahead of Bayern and Dortmund in the incomplete table. They are three points behind leaders Union Berlin and one on Freiburg. Schalke remained third from the end after their fourth consecutive defeat.
