MFred Pellinger and his Eckartsauer start the season in Zistersdorf. The coach has good memories.
What belongs together comes together. Manfred Pellinger starts the season as coach of his home club SCG Eckartsau. It was not until autumn 2022 that he ended his coaching job at SC Orth for personal reasons and took a break from football. Now he’s back in the football business and has to go to Zistersdorf with Eckartsau for the start of the season – that’s where he played his last game as Orth coach.
The time off was necessary from a professional point of view, because of a new position it would not have been possible to focus on sport. But everything leveled off and so it was a good thing that Eckartsau was looking for a trainer. “I didn’t have to think long when the offer came,” he laughs. “My heart is in the club.” He was often there during his break, also because his brother Mathias is the captain.
Pellinger is convinced that a squad made up of experienced and young players is good for a top position. But first it is important to start the season successfully. Good omen: As Orth coach, he won 1-0 in Zistersdorf. “I would take that again in a heartbeat,” he laughs.
