On the air for over ten years now, Scenes of households has several incredible anecdotes in store. For example, did you know that an iconic actor in the series almost didn’t make the cast?
1. “Scènes de Ménages” is not an original series
Scenes of households is not a French creation. It is an adaptation of the Spanish series titled Marriage scenes. She landed at our neighbors in 2007, two years before the French version of M6. The concept is the same: in the two programs, we follow several couples of different ages, facing daily conflicts. If the story is similar, the staging is totally different. In France, Scenes of households is a succession of sketches filmed in the studio, then put end to end, while Marriage scenes is a sitcom shot with an audience. The series no longer exists in Spain, while the French version continues.

2. Gérard Hernandez (Raymond) almost didn’t play in the series
Hard to imagine Scenes of households without Gérard Hernandez and yet, the actor almost never played in the cult series. During the show Do not touch My TV, where columnists were debating the quality of fiction over the years, columnist Isabelle Morini-Bosc revealed that she forced the actor to accept the role. “I am very proud because I had convinced Gérard Hernandez to accept at the start. He didn’t want to do it. And I said ‘I’m sure this will work’. ” He therefore followed the advice of the columnist and now plays Raymond, one of the most iconic characters from the Serie.

3. The actors hardly ever cross paths
When we watch the series, we can think that the actors are shooting their sequences together. In reality, the couples never cross paths because of the logistics, since the sets are divided into two hangars. In one are those of Camille (Amélie Etasse) & Philippe (Grégoire Bonnet), Raymond (Gérard Hernandez) & Huguette (Marion Game), Leslie (Claire Chust) & Léo (Vinnie Dargaud), and on the other those by José (Frédéric Bouraly) & Liliane (Valérie Karsenti), and Fabien (David Mora) & Emma (Anne-Élisabeth Blateau). It is therefore impossible for the actors to cross paths: they have to come in turn to shoot the scenes. Everything is therefore a question of organization in order to avoid big filming problems.

4. The actors eat real cooked meals
If the kitchen is in the spotlight in Here it all begins, whose filming secrets we have revealed to you, it’s the same for Domestic sceness. The couples are often shown at the table, eating. The dinners on their plates are real dishes, cooked for the occasion. “We have a team of props who, among other things, do the shopping and cook daily dishes” explained Mathieu Laurentin, executive producer of the series.
He continues at TV-Leisure : « We try to be careful because it’s complicated for an actor to play five scenes in a row while eating. So we try not to alternate but to prepare good quality things for them. “ On the other hand in the glasses, when the characters have to drink alcohol, the teams obviously do not serve alcoholic drinks. Thus, the wine is replaced by syrup for example.

5. The photos in “Scènes de Ménages”
Scenes of households shows the daily life of several different couples. As a result, we enter directly into their privacy, namely their home. And if we look at the sets in the background, we can see several photos, which are real snapshots of the actors. Always at TV-Leisure, Mathieu Laurentin, executive producer of the series, explained: “One of the first things we did when we set up the sets was ask the actors to give us pictures of them when they were younger. “ So keep your eyes peeled the next time you watch an episode!
