Brimob besieged Islamic boarding school
It didn’t stop there, the joint team then surrounded the Shiddiqiyyah Islamic Boarding School owned by MSAT’s father. Even the Jombang-Lamongan road that crosses the Islamic boarding school is completely closed.
Hundreds of personnel and fully armed Brimob were deployed. The atmosphere around the location was reported to be tense. The police then dispatched negotiators to the pesantren. On the other hand, access to boarding schools is also strictly guarded by MSAT followers.
However, until midnight Sunday, the efforts of the team of negotiators who entered the Islamic boarding school failed.
The Jombang Police Chief, AKBP Nurhidayat, who is also one of the negotiators, admitted that he was having problems. He failed to catch the MSAT that was already on the People’s Wanted List (DPO).
Nurhidayat said the negotiation process did not go as expected, which was carried out in front of hundreds of followers of the kiai.
“We are trying to carry out the arrest of the MSAT suspect, but there are obstacles in the field. And we want to carry out negotiations but the situation does not allow it,” said Nurhidayat.
In a video circulating, MSAT’s father, KH Muhammad Mukhtar Mukthi, was very protective of his son. He asked the Jombang Police Chief AKBP Moh Nurhidayat not to arrest his son, because according to him the sexual harassment case was a family slander.
“For the sake of our common safety, for the sake of the success of Indonesia Raya, this problem is a family problem. For our common safety, for our common good, for the success of Indonesia Raya, this problem of slander is a family problem. For that, go back to your respective places, don’t force yourself to take my son who has been slandered,” MSAT’s dad says on the tape.
Nurhidayat looks unable to move much. He only nodded occasionally. Then hundreds of police personnel, including the Brimob troops from the East Java Police, were pulled back to the headquarters.
For information, MSAT was reported to the Jombang Police on suspicion of molesting an underage woman from Central Java with the LP Number: LPB/392/X/RES/1.24/2019/JATIM/RESJBG. The victim is one of the students or MSAT students at the pesantren. The case was later withdrawn to the East Java Regional Police.
MSAT then sued the East Java Police Chief. He considered his determination as a suspect invalid. He also submitted two pretrials to the Surabaya District Court and the Jombang District Court. However, the pretrial attempt was rejected.
