Having been a permanent part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, the role of iconic super-spy Natasha Romanoff has been played from her debut in Iron Man 2 (2010) right through to the character’s own solo film Black Widow in 2021, it seems now that the actor behind the Avengers veteran has finally had enough. This is according to an interview together with Marvel colleague Gwyneth Paltrow in The goop Podcast, where she expressed that it has been a very special journey to be part of building Marvel’s magnificent world for ten years, but that it is now over and that she is done with the role for good.
“I’m done. Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also, coming back and playing a character again and again, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”
Nowadays, it is Natasha’s little sister Yelena Belova who has taken over the role of the brand’s assassin in tight overalls and she will, among other things, appear in the upcoming film Thunderbolts, which will be Marvel’s answer to Suicide Squad, where a group of anti-heroes join forces under the leadership of Thaddeus Ross who will henceforth be played by Harrison Ford after William Hurt passed out last year.
Will you miss Black Widow in future Marvel adventures?
