Early in her career, American actress Scarlett Johansson felt that she was often cast just for her looks. The actress describes her former self as “hypersexualized”, and says that this is no longer so common in Hollywood for aspiring actresses these days.

“When I was working in my late teens and early twenties, I kind of felt like I was being hypersexualized. At the time, everyone seemed to be okay with that, but that was a different time. While it wasn’t my choice, it was probably a little bit determined for me by a few guys in the industry,” said Johansson, who has seen the business change. “The climate is so different now. There are so many wonderful opportunities for women of all ages to play all kinds of people.”
