English football referee <a href="http://www.world-today-news.com/premier-league-leeds-united-wolverhampton-90-minutes-klicha-report-and-match-result/" title="Premier League: Leeds United – Wolverhampton. 90 minutes Klicha. Report and match result”>David Coote has been suspended until further notice. The reason is obviously videos in which he speaks disparagingly about Jürgen Klopp. According to media reports, Coote is said to have made insulting comments about Klopp in the short clips.
English referee David Coote has been suspended from the Premier League because of serious insults towards star coach Jürgen Klopp. Corresponding investigations have been initiated. Coote’s harsh statements come from a video that was posted on social media. It is still unclear when the video was recorded and whether it is actually authentic.
In one video, Coote is reportedly asked for his opinion on a Liverpool game where he was the fourth official. He therefore used an unquoteable expletive to describe Klopp. When asked why he felt that way about the German, Coote said Klopp had “really made a fool of him when I was captaining the team against Burnley during the lockdown”. He also called the 57-year-old a liar. After the 1-1 draw, Klopp complained about Coote. He did not punish fouls against Reds players.
Among other things, Coote called Klopp “arrogant” in the video – but this is one of the more harmless statements about the coach. The 42-year-old Coote is one of the experienced referees in the Premier League, having been in charge of top-flight games since 2018. He last refereed the game between Klopp’s former club Liverpool FC and Aston Villa (2-0) last Saturday. The referees association PGMOL said in a statement: “David is suspended with immediate effect. This will last until the end of the investigation. PGMOL will also make no further comment on the ongoing case.”
Klopp clashed with Coote on several occasions during his time at Liverpool. Among other things, he accused the referee of mistakes last season after Coote was used as a video assistant in Liverpool’s match against Arsenal. Years earlier, Klopp had also complained about the video assistant Coote during the Merseyside derby against Everton because he had not intervened when Jordan Pickford allegedly fouled Virgil van Dijk.
