Ugly scenes marked the pre-election debate in the “Panorama” program on BNT. The presenter failed to question the representative of the Bulgarian National Union – ND Boyan Rasate and Vencislav Angelov from the “Truth and Only the Truth” People’s Party.
At first, the debate proceeded in a normal and respectful tone. The politicians said that the political formations they represent are a priority. At one point the situation got out of control. The reason for this was the words of Rasate, who pointed out that some of the people responsible for the Bulgarians being in a bad situation at the moment were standing in the studio. “We must root out evil. The representatives of the nomenklatura from the BKP, who seized the enterprises from the people and benefited themselves, must be punished,” he began.
Dr. Rumen Valov Petkov from “Levitsa” dropped the line: “In the studio it became quite fun.”
Those words blew up the atmosphere. A volley of threats followed from Boyan Rasate: “You may be happy, but you wasted the lives of our parents, our children and grandchildren. We have no choice but to get up and slap you each so that you don’t have so much fun,” he said.
According to him, the formula to live better has been played out historically. “When we have a genocide, the culprits from the former nomenclature must be pointed out, which wedged themselves like a parasite in the poor Bulgarian people and suck their life force while they live in their expensive villas. These people should be punished. Whether we hang them, shoot them or something else – it doesn’t matter. The former communists live like a parasite on the poor Bulgarian people and this must stop. When the people rise up, the time under Pinochet will seem to them like a fairy tale,” said the nationalist.
Simeon Slavchev from MIR commented that the goal of their formation is to achieve the neutrality of Bulgaria, in addition to being a zone of peace, but also to provide citizens with direct participation in national polls”.
Dr. Rumen Valov Petkov also spoke for the preservation of peace in the region.
Vencislav Angelov from the “Truth and Only the Truth” People’s Party pointed out that we live in times in which lies and deception are dominant. “The most important priorities are that our mothers and fathers were deceived. We have a duty to stop this decay,” he stressed.
“It is high time Bulgaria offered a place where peace negotiations could be reached. Peace is achieved through negotiations,” said Slavchev, regarding the war in Ukraine.
“I can’t stand this nonsense,” said Boyan Rasate. “These are the words of paid Russian hacks. When there is an aggressor, peace is not achieved with talk or on one’s knees,” Rasate replied.
Slavchev turned to the presenter and remarked that it is high time that people who have been convicted cannot take part in television broadcasts.
A new scandal followed: “You are a Russian slipper,” Rasate replied. The nationalist also said that he was arrested, convicted and beaten because he had a clear position that he stood for, while the “Russian slipper” was somewhere hidden. He added that parties should be banned from participating in elections only when a law on lustration is adopted.
“What is happening in Ukraine is a pity, because we are brotherly nations. We cannot help but feel sorry for what is happening. The word that should be heard more often in Parliament is “peace”. Bulgaria should not get involved in this war in any way. Bulgaria is a zone of peace and everything possible must be done so that all parties unite and understand how to implement such a policy,” urged Rumen Petkov.
“We can solve all the problems, but only when we turn our backs on the ruble thieves,” convinced Rasate.
