The incident happened last month during a high school volleyball game between the Hiwassee Dam and Highlands teams. The player from the second team played a hard blow that hit one of the opponent’s players in the head. He jumped to the ground, but after a while he managed to leave the board alone.
The incident sparked heated debate only now that it was discovered that the blow with a speed of around 110 kilometers per hour was carried out by a biological man. Hiwassee is still suffering from the effects of a concussion, has vision problems and is unable to return to the game.

The Cherokee County School Board voted to cancel all women’s volleyball games against the Highlands School, where a transgender player plays. However, the board declined to openly comment on the transgender issue.

“The district will not participate in any volleyball game, varsity or junior varsity, against Highlands for safety reasons,” read the minutes of the meeting. The injured school’s athletic director only claimed that it is unfair and dangerous for teams to compete against highlands.
Another council member added that there is a competitive advantage for some teams and there are concerns about the safety of the players.
