On Videos The man could be seen entering the cordoned-off press area in the event hall in Johnstown and climbing onto a platform on which cameras, for example, were set up.
Security forces eventually pulled the man down and led him out of the hall. The background of the incident and the man’s motivation were unclear.
It was unclear whether the man was a supporter or opponent of Trump. Trump had previously – as usual in his speeches – vehemently attacked the US media. He called the “New York Times” the “enemy of the people” and spoke of the “fake news” media.
Since the assassination attempt on Trump a few weeks ago, there have been increased security measures at his events. On July 13, a gunman shot Trump from a nearby roof at a campaign event in Pennsylvania. Trump was wounded in the right ear by a bullet, and the perpetrator was shot dead by security forces shortly afterwards. One visitor died and two others were injured.
Trump will run against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris (59) in the presidential election on November 5.
