Scandal about Woody Allen’s memoirs

“Apropos of nothing” is the title of the book and is supposed to contain everything you always wanted to know about Woody Allen – or not.

The autobiography of the US director, who has fallen out of favor due to allegations of abuse, is due to appear in early April. As soon as the publishing house Hachette announced the date of publication, there was a hail of protest – above all from its own family.

Ronan Farrow, the son of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, who publishes with the same publisher as his father, said he had given up the collaboration. He accused the publisher of “lack of sympathy for the victims of sexual abuse”.

Farrow is considered the “# MeToo reconnaissance”, in 2017 the journalist made a significant contribution to the unveiling of the Weinstein scandal.

He also supports his sister Dylan Farrow, who accuses Woody Allen of having spoken to her in childhood. The director has always rejected the allegations.

In 2018, Allen’s agent allegedly offered the manuscript to four American publishers, but none wanted to print it, probably for fear that the allegations of abuse would flare up again.

According to the publisher, Allen’s memoir is about his “relationships with family, friends and loved ones”. The book will be published in the United States, Germany, Italy, France and Spain.
