Scammers pull graphics out of people. They claim to be defective

A document began circulating on the Internet, in which Chinese retailers warn customers about defective AMD Radeon RX 580 cards. Because of this, they even announced a convening event so that people could bring their models and be able to solve the problem.

Such convening events for cars are by no means exceptional, but in the computer world we rarely meet them – usually only in moments when it is without exaggeration about the user’s life. For example, if the sources have faulty wiring and there is a risk of electric shock.

All similar reports on the graphics card convening event have one similar one, they look like an official document from AMD. However, this manufacturer has already issued an official statement in which he denies all information about defective cards and described the entire convening event as fraud.

The reason why the Chinese fraudsters decided to do such a trick is simple. Graphics cards currently have the price of gold due to their unavailability. It is no exception that even several-year-old models are sold at bazaars at higher prices than people bought them years ago.

They want to sell or mine cards

Thus, according to the available information, fraudsters do not want to repair cards, but simply want to either monetize them or use them to mine various cryptocurrencies. The demand for powerful graphics is not only among players, but also among miners. After all, this is one of the reasons why graphics are such a scarce commodity today.

Although fraudulent convening is currently only about China, it is very likely that we will encounter similar tricks more often, most likely in Europe as well. There is no indication that the situation on the graphics card market will improve significantly in the foreseeable future.

Of course, fraudsters don’t just have to lure AMD cards out of people, they can also claim that there have been some problems with Nvidia core cards.
