Scam Alert: €1,500 Social Housing Course Promises Faster Results, Amsterdam Officials Warn

Courses for 1,500 euros that should teach you how to get social housing faster, they are really offered, writes The Telegraph. According to the consultant, the Amsterdam Housing Corporation Federation and the Woon Foundation, it is of no use to you.

Homeseeker, are you urgently looking for a social rented home? Then stop looking!’ It can be read on Destapnaarhuren.nl, a website that offers a course that promises participants, with a few clever tricks, to get social housing faster than the rest.

A course like this will cost you 1,500 euros and last a total of two hours. Everything told to you during that time must be strictly confidential. Destapnaarhuren says in its general terms and conditions that students who share anything about this must pay a fine of 250,000 euros.

‘abuse’

The Amsterdam Federation of Housing Corporations (AFWC) says it is abusing the situation. Stichting Woon agrees: “Desperate and sometimes vulnerable home seekers are promised affordable rental housing for a lot of money, but this company can’t deliver,” said a spokesperson Gert-Jan Bakker to the newspaper. “Don’t fall for it” Baker warns X.

Alderman Zita Pels (Public Housing) also confirms in De Telegraaf that a course will not help you to get social housing.

The course provider itself does not want to give a guarantee on a home. Someone from the group told De Telegraaf that this depends on the ‘effort’ the student makes: “We have no influence on this.”
