Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentina national team, has announced the availability of Angel Di Maria and Rodrigo de Paul for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Argentina will meet Croatia, who reached the final of the 2018 World Cup, where they lost to France, and settled for the silver medal.
Scaloni made sure of the readiness of the duo, who had recently suffered minor injuries, while they would miss the services of Marcos Acuña and Gonzalo Montiel.
In the press conference presenting the site, the 44-year-old said: “I won’t mention the main players in Croatia’s ranks, nor their strengths or weaknesses, but we have reached points through which we can damage them.”
Scaloni added: “Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. We’ll try to give everything on the pitch… If we play well, we’ll have an easier way to reach our goal.”
The Argentinian coach refused to change his style of play to keep up with Croatia, stressing: “We have our own system and our own style of play. Of course, in certain situations we have to take into account the style of play of our opponents , but we will not change our usual style”.
Scaloni was asked about Luka Modric, the legend of the Croatian national team midfield.
And the former right-back replied: “It was a pleasure to watch him play. He is a role model for many, not only for his talent, but also for his behaviour.”
