“This Monday, in Paris,” the federation said in a statement, where they are present for the FIFA awards ceremony, the president of the federation, “Claudio Tapia and Lionel Scaloni, met to finalize the extension of his contract as coach of the national team until 2026.”
The issue of extending Scaloni had been largely settled since December, after leading the national team to win the 2022 World Cup Qatar title at the expense of France, according to what was stated at the time by the head of the local federation of the Tapia game.
Scaloni, 44, has coached the South American national team since 2018, and led him to the Copa America title in 2021, giving his country its first ever title since 1993.
Then, with Lionel Messi and his companions, he won the World Cup title for the third time in the country’s history and the first since 1986, by defeating France in the final on penalties.
Scaloni violated expectations and responded to those who criticized his appointment as successor to Jorge Sampaoli after the exit from the final price of the Mondia Russia 2018.
