Stall sales of carp are allowed as standard. However, the administration will also check whether vendors have drapes at the stalls this year due to coronavirus.

“We appeal to the need to observe anti-epidemic measures, both on the part of sellers and buyers, especially to maintain sufficient distances and protect ourselves and our surroundings by using veils or respirators,” said SVS spokesman Petr Vorlíček.
–
The first vats of carp are due to appear in the streets around December 17. Compared to last year, the scale on the Christmas board will not increase significantly, but it will not become cheaper either.
–
“We will not influence the final prices for consumers, we only recommend them. Our customers expect that the price will be approximately last year between 80 and 110 crowns per kilo of selected fish, “said Rudolf Provázek, director of Fish Market, who is the exclusive seller of Rybářství Třeboň, to Práva.
–
However, according to him, prices will vary regionally. The cheapest fish are always from producers directly from nurseries, for example in the South Bohemian region, the most expensive are, on the other hand, in large cities due to higher rents for sales counters with vats, the price of trucks and more expensive labor.
–
For example, the state enterprise Povodí Odry will once again sell fish from its own production, a kilo of carp for 89 crowns. The company has stores at the waterworks in Žermanice in the Frýdek-Místek region, in Opava and at Petrova rybník. Pre-Christmas sales will start there on December 15 and will be open until December 23.
–
As last year, the seller Josef Novotný from Stonařov, for example, intends to keep the prices. He will charge 85 crowns per kilogram of 1st class carp weighing up to 2.5 kilos. Customers will pay an extra four crowns for the heavier selection, he described to the regional Jihlavské listy. Elsewhere, the prices for the 1st class and selection most often differ by 10 crowns, some sellers count only one price.

“Buy on time”
The sale of carp as well as Christmas trees is not limited in the current 3rd degree of the anti-epidemic system PES, according to the rules it would run in the 4th degree if the health situation in the Czech Republic deteriorated.
–
Fisheries have lost part of their sales this year due to coronavirus, also due to weaker exports. Even carp go for a significant part to export to neighboring countries. According to agrarian analyst Petr Havel, export prices could fall slightly due to weaker demand.
–
Although many Czechs have deeper pockets in their pockets due to the effects of the pandemic, retailers in the Czech Republic are trying to keep prices and do not want to reduce prices. “It is a tradition of the domestic market, the price is already stabilized, they are not exaggerated, exorbitant prices,” argues Provázek.
–
“I would recommend people not to leave the purchase of carp at the last minute, also because of coronavirus, to save their nerves and not stand in long queues,” he added. According to him, many people mainly ask how it will be sold on December 22 and 23, and the sellers would not have to prosecute. “It’s better to have fish in the fridge and save stress,” advises Provázek.
