The Financial Police of the Provincial Command of Salernoas part of checks on the prevention and combating of environmental crimes, in recent days has identified a Scafati land, bordering some agricultural fields, used illicitly as
open-air landfill. The activity, shared with the relevant bodies, and carried out by the Fiamme Gialle of the Scafati Company – which already at the beginning of the year subjected to seizure two areas used for illegal landfills – through inspections and acquisition of images from open sources, assisted by Arapac personnel and the local Local Police, it allowed the sites near the SS268 to be seized, for a total of over 8 thousand square meters.
The two responsible parties identified were referred to this Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of unauthorized waste management activities, taking into account the risk of serious environmental pollution and the quantity of waste found in direct contact with the ground,
mostly construction waste, for a total of approximately 500 tons. The area subjected to precautionary restrictions has been duly secured in order to avoid the continuation of illicit activities, to limit contamination of the sites, to restore their decorum
and above all to guarantee the safety of citizens.
