With an unsatisfied eighth place, the preliminary round of group one was occupied by the first team.
The team and the coaching duo looked positively into the second half of the season and made various changes and measures to be in the top half of the table.
Second half with a lot of morale
The preparation for the second half of the season started on January 17, 2023, and practically all players were there. Football was on the agenda for the first two weeks.
Then the real training began – a lot of running without, but also with a ball. Monday and Tuesday was the obligatory team training and on Thursday they were in Crossfit in Cham.
In the test games, tactics and condition were also worked on. All players were used and so the healthy competition was strengthened.
In the friendlies, there was a defeat against Kickers Luzern II, three draws against Gunzwil, Ebikon and Menzingen, who were later promoted. You could win against SK Root and Hitzkirch.
They narrowly won the first game
So it came right at the beginning of the second half of the season for revenge against Engelberger SC. After the 1-0 defeat in the first leg, SC Steinhausen wanted to turn the tables.
The game didn’t start well for them, 0:3 after almost 35 minutes would have been too big a burden for some, but the boys showed morale and turned the game around and won 4:3 with the first third division goal from 17-year-old Roman Zürcher.
Thus, the second half of the season was launched and a draw against Zug94 II followed, which did not drop many points this season.
SC Steinhausen ended the season in good fourth place
It was a very tactical game from SC Steinhausen and they almost won in the end. They scored 18 points in the second half of the season and didn’t lose a derby.
The championship ended with a 2:3 in the 94th minute against FC Baar.
It wasn’t easy playing or training with just one goalkeeper for most of the second half of the season, turning deficits against Engelberg (0:3) or Baar (0:2) into wins, for example, and giving everything to end a season that wasn’t easy in fourth place.
