SC Preußen Münster Defeats Ingolstadt 3-1: Matchday 3 Recap

At the end there was pure jubilation, pure joy. Exuberant and wild. And after 17 minutes everything was different. After 17 minutes Ingolstadt led with the first chance. It was like in Bielefeld. But this time, SC Preußen Münster worked its way in and brought the Schanzers their second defeat of the season.

Lo and behold: at the end of a crazy Tuesday evening, SC Preußen is suddenly better in the table than Arminia Bielefeld. After the derby victory, the air was probably gone, in Ulm the Arminen lost, it can go that fast.

As expected, coach Sascha Hildmann had made changes: Simon Scherder had to leave after a pretty mixed performance, Dominik Schad was out for months with a torn lateral ligament and Luca Bazzoli was also given a break. Shaibou Oubeyapwa, Yassine Bouchama and Niko Koulis joined the team for the trio.

After all, 9,042 spectators wanted to see the SCP play against Ingolstadt – and they saw an SCP that started with a lot of speed. There was little to be seen of restraint, and the audience was immediately awake. Alexander Hahn’s free kick after 4 minutes brought real danger for the first time, but apart from that the game was more spread out in midfield.

After 16 minutes, that Hahn was involved again, clearing a ball for a corner. And that brought the 0:1 out of the blue. As in Bielefeld, the SCP completely lost track, in the end Jannik Mause was there and pushed in. yes mouse The man last played for Alemannia Aachen and had already scored against Prussia last season. As in Bielefeld: first chance, first goal. Can this 3rd league really be that deadly? It seemed so.

Münster, however, did not appear frustrated. As a result, the SCP created a whole series of chances – and almost always these were chances for Joel Grodowski. But the ex-loser seems to have had bad luck at the moment. Whatever he tried, in the end there was always a missed opportunity. Just like after 26 minutes, when he failed completely free in front of keeper Marius Funk. And then Sebastian Mrowca was also on the spot, but Funk somehow fished out his rich long-range shot.

And after 35 minutes it was Grodowski again, who actually had a clear path, but then half stumbled, half was disturbed. It was hair-raising. And at the latest when Gerrit Wegkamp failed with a header (37th), there was a slight suspicion that it would probably take even longer before the first Prussian goal…

The first half ended with 3 minutes of stoppage time.

After the change, the first chance belonged to the guests. But Max Schulze Niehues parried this chance sensationally with Mause. That would have been bitter if the SCP had conceded the goal directly, as in Bielefeld, shortly after the change. But the Prussians really threw themselves in and had the chance. Oubeyapwa was fouled in the penalty area, penalty for the SCP. Gerrit Wegkamp grabbed the ball, but his shot was too weak and out of place – Funk saved. Next 0:1.

Coach Hildmann reacted after 59 minutes. Thorben Deters and Malik Batmaz came into play. And now it was getting wild. Batmaz was hardly on the field when Rico Preißinger put him in the limelight and Batmaz sensitively lifted the ball into the far corner. A dream goal and an incredible relief!

The goal was a chest release, that was unmistakable. Now there was fire in the stands and in the game too. The SCP immediately followed suit – which forced Ingolstadt’s trainer Michael Köllner to make changes. Ingolstadt closed the bulkheads, as a result the SCP did not always get through well. It was now a wait, a fear. Could there be more? Batmaz was always wanted, and Deters was very active on the side. Everyone could feel it: This SCP wants more. And that got the audience going too.

And then.

Then came the 88th minute. Munster in forward gear, on the left Deters made pace. He just caught the ball, just before the goal line, and heaved it perfectly, perfectly!, onto Batmaz’s head, who was completely free in the middle. Batmaz dozed off. Batmaz freaked out. The stadium freaked out. Everyone freaked out. Batmaz could hardly be stopped, he jumped over the advertising boards in jubilation, let himself be celebrated in front of the Fiffi-Geritzen curve – it was incredibly loud. It was done!

Six minutes of stoppage time were indicated and while Ingolstadt threw everything forward, the SCP was waiting for this one scene. And got them after 5 minutes. Andrew Wooten with a flick – a dream goal, the 3-1, the decision.

After that it was just cheering, just relief. Now the SCP is back in the 3rd league. What an evening.
