Aachen/Potsdam – The SC Potsdam volleyball players showed their fighting qualities right at the start of the season. After falling behind twice in a set, coach Riccardo Boieri’s almost completely renewed Bundesliga team won 3-2 (21:25, 25:22, 24:26, 25:21, 15:12) at the Ladies in Black Aachen. Danielle Harbin was the visitors’ outstanding player with 17 points.
It was only on the day of the match that the Potsdam women were granted permission to play for another new addition by the Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL): The 23-year-old Frenchwoman Jade Cholet, most recently active for AEK Athens, immediately appeared in the starting line-up. The 1.82 meter tall outside attacker offered a promising performance for long stretches.
After a disjointed start, the Potsdam women picked themselves up and clearly pulled ahead in the second round with 17:10 and 21:16. But in the end they still had to worry about winning the set because their opponent came within one point. Even the unfortunate loss of the third set didn’t disrupt the Potsdam team’s rhythm. They fought their way into the tiebreak and showed their nerve there, after they had lost an 11:7 lead in this deciding set with a 0:5 run.
