Striker replaces sick players in squad for tournament in England
Good news for Hasret Kayikci from SC Freiburg. The 30-year-old was called up to the DFB squad for the Arnold Clark Cup by national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg on Sunday afternoon (February 13, 2022). The striker, who has been lacing up her soccer shoes in Breisgau for over ten years, was called up for the preparatory tournament because three players in the German team had to pull out due to illness. Kayikci last played for the German national team in June 2018. In eleven games, the Freiburg native scored six goals for Germany.
Kayikci will meet her colleagues in the national team this Monday (February 14, 2022) and start training together. On Thursday (02/17/2022) she meets the Spanish selection in Middlesbrough (England).
