The SC “1960” team Styria RB Pernegg celebrated an impressive 4:1 victory against SV Union Steiner-Haustechnik Pruggern in the fifth round of the Lower League North A. SC Pernegg was already leading 3:0 at halftime and added another goal in the second half before Pruggern scored a consolation goal shortly before the end of the game. This means that Pernegg finally secured its first win of the season.
Early dominance by SC Pernegg
In the 6th minute, SC Pernegg launched their first dangerous attack down the right side, with Manuel Messner hitting the side netting. In the 16th minute, SC Pernegg then deservedly took the lead 1-0. Jakob Schneller broke through on the left and made a precise cross, so that Manuel Messner only had to push the ball in.
Just five minutes later, SC Pernegg increased the lead to 2-0. Captain Lechner sent Jakob Schneller, who outplayed three opponents and confidently put the ball in the net. SV Pruggern tried to get back into the game, but was unable to capitalize on its chances. In the 33rd minute, there was a shot from distance following a corner, but it missed. Voice of the game:
Mathias Kahr (Sports Director Pernegg): “NAfter a poor start to the season, the boys showed their true quality again one round before the big derby against Breitenau and took their first win of the season. From the start, the guests from Pruggern stood very deep with 11 men in their own half. Our team dominated the game and the Ennstalers waited for their chances on the counterattack, which gave them the first big chance, but goalkeeper Schmied was able to keep his nerve. Luckily, in the 16th minute, the opener came: Schneller powered through nicely and served Prosser, who still failed. Luckily, Messner was in the right place and made it 1-0. After that, the team gained momentum and showed the quality they had with great aplomb. First, it was Schneller who made it 2-0 after a strong individual move. But then we showed our team quality and secured the preliminary decision with a beautifully played move by Matthias Prosser. In the second half, the guests tried to get back into the game, but our team still had more of the game and missed a number of chances to win by a larger margin. In the end, it was Sebastian Tropper who finally made the decision with his first goal for his hometown club. Pruggern finally corrected the score with a 4:1 after a counterattack. Now, after 20 years, there will be another derby against SV Breitenau. It will be a football festival that many players will remember forever. That’s why it’s time to repeat the performance of the previous games and take points from Breitenau. However, one thing is clear: unfortunately, due to the league table situation, we are not going to the neighboring community as favorites.”
