Freiburg (dpa) – One day after returning from the nine-day training camp in Austria, SC Freiburg separated twice in two test matches 2-2 in their own stadium from the French first division club Racing Straßburg. 90 minutes were played without spectators. Freiburg’s current best line-up started in the second game and fell behind early after a corner due to a header from Lucas Perrin (4th minute). After a pass from Vincenzo Grifo, Lukas Kübler (21st) equalized. Merlin Rühl (26th) scored after a one-two with Michael Gregoritsch to make it 2-1. In the second half, Gerzino Nyamsi (80th) headed the 2-2.
A team consisting mainly of U23 players had parted ways with Racing with the same result. The French initially scored two goals through Lebo Mothiba (10′) and Habib Diarra (20′), Maximilian Breunig (24′) and Mika Baur (41′) equalized for Freiburg. Both were present at the training camp. There left-back Jordi Makengo broke his cheekbone in the last session on Friday. He’s already had an operation. It is not yet clear how long the 21-year-old Frenchman will be out.
