SC Freiburg II lost 23 points this summer because Vincent Vermeij – 15 goals and eight assists in 36 third division games – switched to Fortuna Düsseldorf. That’s why those responsible were looking for a new striker who could close the gaping gap. On Wednesday, the Breisgauer presented a prominent name, Hamadi Al Ghaddioui will go on goal hunting for the SC in the future.
“We are pleased that Hamadi has joined our second team,” Andreas Steiert, head of the Freiburg football school, is quoted as saying: “In recent years he has gained diverse and valuable experience in the men’s field up to the Bundesliga. to get on the pitch together with our young team.”
The 1.90 meter tall German-Moroccan experienced a steady rise in his career. 90 regional league games (16 goals) for Leverkusen’s second representation from 2011 to 2014, followed by 60 for SC Verl (29 goals) and 33 for Dortmund II (19 goals). A half-year in the 3rd division in Lotte (20 games, seven goals) was followed by the jump to the 2nd Bundesliga with Jahn Regensburg (38 games, eleven goals), which he left for Stuttgart after a year and a half.
Jointly responsible for Stuttgart’s return to the Bundesliga
At VfB he was responsible for the Bundesliga return with eight goals in 28 games – the second best goal scorer in Stuttgart behind Nicolas Gonzalez. In the upper house, only 16 appearances (two goals) were added in a year and a half. After a year at the Cypriot first division club Pafos FC, he went to SV Sandhausen in January 2023, where he failed to score in eleven competitive games. Al Ghaddioui is now trying his luck in Freiburg.
It is not known how long the veteran has been under contract with the second division. As is customary in Freiburg, it was agreed not to disclose the content of the contract.
