It was about the call from DFB goalkeeper coach Andreas Kronenberg, formerly employed by Freiburg in Breisgau. Blaswich had saved the contact and had not updated it since then; Kronenberg had hired the DFB in August 2021.
After Blaswich was able to resolve the small misunderstanding with his wife, the debutant’s anticipation prevailed: “I was a bit taken aback at first, but now positively pleased. The anticipation is simply enormous,” explained Blaswich.
Will Blaswich also be used against Turkey or Austria? Rather unlikely, three other goalkeepers were nominated: Marc-André ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp and Oliver Baumann.
