SC Freiburg Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu’s Trip to German U21 National Team Canceled Due to Ankle Injury

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu from SC Freiburg has canceled the trip to the German U21 national team because of an ankle injury. The 21-year-old has problems with the inner ligament, said a spokesman for the Bundesliga soccer club when asked by the German Press Agency on Monday. The German Football Association had previously announced that Hertha BSC goalkeeper Tjark Ernst had been called up for the upcoming international matches against Ukraine and Kosovo. Tom Rothe from Holstein Kiel was nominated for the injured defender Marco John from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Atubolu was still between the posts in Freiburg’s 5-0 defeat at VfB Stuttgart last Saturday. He was appointed first-choice goalkeeper before this season, replacing Mark Flekken, who left for Brentford FC in England.
