SC Freiburg and Union Berlin put RB Leipzig under pressure

RB Leipzig slipped to sixth place in the table before their away game at VfL Bochum on Sunday (3.30 p.m. live on DAZN).

On Saturday, SC Freiburg won its home game against Hertha BSC Berlin 3-0 and took fourth place in the table, at least temporarily, with 40 points.

Vincenzo Grifo ensured the lead in the sixth home win of the Breisgauers in the early stages with a penalty kick (12th). The goal was the fifth goal of the season for the Italian. Kevin Schade (83rd) and Lucas Höler (86th) increased the result in the final phase.

RB Leipzig is sixth in the table at VfL Bochum

Already on Friday 1899 Hoffenheim (40) passed RB (37 points) with the late 2-1 home win against VfB Stuttgart, the Kraichgauer are now fifth.

With a win in Bochum, however, Leipzig would pass again in a duo with the same number of points, since the goal difference of the runner-up is clearly the best.

But Union Berlin is putting pressure on RB again from behind. The Köpenicker clearly won 3-1 against FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday and are now level on points with Leipzig.

Genki Haraguchi (7th), the strong Sheraldo Becker with a remarkable flick (56th) and substitute Taiwo Awoniyi (75th) scored the goals for the Union, who again passed Mainz in the table. After the yellow-red card for Dominik Kohr (60th), FSV had to play outnumbered for around half an hour. Delano Burgzorg’s goal (90′) came far too late.

The other results on the 23rd Bundesliga matchday: Eintracht Frankfurt – Bayern Munich 0: 1, Greuther Fürth – 1. FC Cologne 1: 1, Bayer Leverkusen – Arminia Bielefeld 3: 0 and Borussia Mönchengladbach – VfL Wolfsburg 2: 2.
