Cambuur lost 1-2 against Jong AZ on Friday evening. Shortly after Cambuur’s equalizer, however, the match was stopped because a cup ended up on the field. After a possible penalty moment, angry Cambuur fans again threw beer on the field. The match was therefore stopped again and an angry De Jong went to the supporters to seek redress. After the match, the coach has not yet gotten rid of his frustration. “Just say that we as a club lost today. This makes no sense at all, really makes no sense,” De Jong said at ESPN about the beer throwers.
“This is the second time, this also happened against Jong PSV,” the coach continues. “After the first half they (Jong AZ, ed.) are 0-1 ahead, but we have to be 3-1 or 4-1 ahead, with the chances we get. Two minutes after half-time you end up at 1- 1, but then you have to strike again and then continue again. And then a few idiots throw beer on the field again… It’s really crazy for words.”

“It’s hurting the club. We lose and that’s my fault, but a few fools of our own make us have to start over again at times when we could win the game. It’s really scandalous. This is not the first times. There are thousands of top players here, but those few idiots have no sense. They are harming our club, man,” De Jong concludes.
