Krefeld Full of self-confidence, the SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen cheerleaders travel with nine teams to the West regional championship in Bottrop. Of course they are among the favorites again this year.
After a successful start to the season at the national championships in their own hall on the Löschhofweg, the Dolphins cheerleaders from SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen will take part in the West regional championship in Bottrop on Sunday with nine teams. “The last training sessions were characterized by corona-related cancellations, so we are preparing our athletes for the fact that we have to change our routines right up to the end,” explains Chantal Filipiak, who is in charge of the sport, about the status of the preparations. Antwan Lymore, part of the new management duo since August 2021, adds: “We have prepared the teams in the best possible way. Everyone wants to do their best and at least repeat the successes of November.”

Since the regional championship will again be held as a hybrid championship due to the pandemic conditions, the Dolphins held their dress rehearsal last weekend in front of invited guests in a corona-compliant manner. A commemorative plaque was unveiled in the hall on Loeschenhofweg to commemorate the founder, Oxana Prokoptschuk, who died in November.

“I’m happy and happy that SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen is carrying on our mission,” said Kamila Benschop, co-founder of the cheerleaders, who thanked the club and wished the athletes every success.
