Jakarta –
The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) talk about presidential candidates in 2024 election does not have to be specially prepared by certain parties. PDIP Senior Politician Hendrawan Supratikno said leaders are not just born.
“Leaders are born from a long process and are the result of the interaction of many factors. So there is a series of layered and cumulative causality,” Hendrawan told reporters, Friday (13/1/2023).
This member of Commission VI of the DPR said that there are leaders who are prepared, there are also those who are born due to momentum, and some are even due to luck. Even so, according to him, a leader must be rich in knowledge in all aspects.
“Some factors can be prepared, some are born because of momentum, some are the result of the right response to important issues, some are also due to luck. Being a leader is forged by knowledge, experience, opportunity, consistency of attitude, reputation in social interactions and so on. It cannot be reduced to a formula. simplistic,” he said.
Hendrawan assessed that SBY’s opinion was only a reflection and shared experience. Hendrawan also said that SBY was actively preparing his son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), to occupy a strategic post in the future.
“Pak SBY’s statement is more a reflection and sharing of experiences, rather than as satire or an expression of annoyance. After all, Pak SBY is also proactive in preparing AHY to occupy future strategic posts,” he said.
Previously, SBY spoke about the presidential candidates in the 2024 election. SBY admitted that he did not believe that certain parties had to specially prepare leaders.
“I don’t believe that certain parties must be specially prepared for a leader. In a democratic way, this will discourage those who want to become leaders,” said SBY in a video shared by the Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Renanda Bachtar, Friday (13/1).
SBY believes that the state should provide equal space for all parties to run for president in 2024. He said the government should not go too far into regulating this.
“Willing to compete, increasing capabilities, increasing electability, and the important thing is that the state provides equal space, fair space, the state must not go too far so that it interferes with fairness, justice for anyone who wants to nominate something,” said SBY.
Furthermore, SBY said that the people have the sovereign right to determine their own leaders. He said the country should provide an opportunity to anyone who wants to step up as a leader.
“These voters have rights, those who are sovereign of the people, the KPU is the organiser, so those who have work, who have intentions are the people of Indonesia, they have 2 rights, the right to vote and the right to be elected. Our country must provide opportunities for anyone who wants to use their right to be elected and exercise their right to vote,” he explained.
