In an interview, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasiļs Malyuks, admitted the participation of the SBU and the Navy in the attack by drones on the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol in October, and also let it be understood that the Ukrainian intelligence service took measures to break the enemy’s logistical connection via the Crimean bridge.
In an interview with journalist Dmitro Komarova for the project “Year. Behind the scenes”, Malyuk was asked whether the SBU was connected to the bombing of the Crimean bridge.
“A pseudo-investigation is underway in Rashka about the situation that happened with the Crimean bridge. They qualify it in their spirit as a terrorist attack, they have arrested more than 20 of their citizens,” said the head of the intelligence service.
“If we start to publicly sort out the molecules, then we will actually give them the opportunity to better clarify, document. Therefore, we better observe it,” he said.
According to the norms of Ukrainian and international law, “it was a logistical route that our enemy had to cut, certain such actions were carried out accordingly”, Malyuk said.
“But certain details, I will repeat, I will not tell in front of the camera,” he added.
Commenting on the drone attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, Malyuk said: “As for the situation that happened with the Crimean Navy, but specifically with the attack with water combat drones, information has been publicly released several times that the SBU was the author of such an operational plan and implemented it. However, not only the SBU worked there, but implemented it side by side with the Navy, as well as our diverse citizens.”
