Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) School of Business Management (SBM) students are asked to learn on my own. This happened because conflict which is taking place between the SBM ITB lecturers and the ITB Chancellor.
“The ITB SBM Lecturer Forum states that it will not operate as usual starting Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The teaching-learning process is not carried out offline or online, but students are asked to study independently,” said representative of the ITB SBM Lecturer Forum Achmad Ghazali as quoted from detikJabarWednesday (9/3/2022).
Achmad explained that the conflict was triggered by ITB Chancellor Reini Wirahadikusumah who revoked the right to self-management of SBM ITB in 2003. The revocation was said to have been carried out without any notification and agreement.
Achmad further revealed that this conflict has been trying to be resolved. The meeting of the SBM ITB Lecturer Forum with the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors also took place on Friday (4/3).
“But it has not produced results. The Chancellor no longer recognizes the basics of establishing SBM ITB as stated in the ITB Rector’s Decree Number 203/2003. This decree gives the authority and responsibility for self-financing and self-management to SBM ITB as part of ITB,” he explained.
Achmad said that currently the Chancellor was making an integrated system that was uniform and applicable to all faculties/schools at ITB. This new regulation strengthens the rector’s position as the sole ruler.
