New Delhi | State Bank of India (SBI) has said that no bank slip or identity document is required to exchange or deposit Rs 2,000 notes. The bank has also issued new guidelines in this regard. 2000 notes can be exchanged without any form of application or slip, according to the guidelines issued by SBI branches.
2,000 notes up to Rs.20,000 can be deposited or transferred simultaneously. The bank’s explanation comes amid false propaganda on social media that apart from submitting identification documents like Aadhaar card, a form has to be filled to exchange the banned notes.
Yesterday, the Reserve Bank had announced that it will withdraw Rs 2000 notes and they can be exchanged or deposited in bank accounts by September 30. 19 regional offices of Reserve Bank of India and other banks will accept Rs 2,000 from May 23.
