With the Switzerland-wide lockdown, public transport experienced unprecedented commuter poverty last month. The federal government suggested that unnecessary journeys should be avoided. The SBB, PostBus and any regional transport company restricted their timetables accordingly. Until now.
–
With the first easing of the Federal Council, public transport is also to be ramped up. The SBB and the Zurich Transport Association (ZVV) want to gradually return to the normal timetable from April 27.
–
First, the Intercity resumes the journey from Zurich via Friborg to Geneva. On the same day, the trains between Zurich and Lucerne run every half hour. The Interregio connects the Zurich, Weinfelden to Constance route again. Trains run every half hour between Geneva and Annemasse and between Bern and Olten.
–
Postbus back to normal from May 11th
In the area of the S-Bahn, the ZVV only stopped those trains that were used to relieve the stress during commuter times. Now take up your offer again. From April 27th the S19 will run again, the S4 and S10 will follow on May 4th.
–
The Zurich Lake and Oberland Transport Authority (VZO) and bus operations at Zurich Airport are expected to operate normally again at the end of April. Trams and buses in the city of Zurich from March 4th.
–
Postbus, however, takes a little more time. The reduced schedule applies until May 10, the company writes. From May 11, however, you will be on the road again according to the usual timetable. Exceptions are night courses and purely tourist trips.
–
Still no night trains
SBB also continues to do without night trains. Shipping on Lake Zurich remains largely restricted. Cable cars are also not yet affected by the easing.
–
It is still uncertain how commuters will behave on the trains starting April 27th. Whether they have to wear masks, as in neighboring Austria. SBB and Postauto are currently working on a security concept.
–
Because one thing is clear: as soon as the schools open again and sell individual shops again, the distance of two meters in public transport will hardly be maintainable. Accordingly, the companies recommend continuing to avoid unnecessary trips. (hah)
