Sayurbox Returns to Layoffs for Long-Term Sustainability of Business

Jakarta

Startup e-grocery sayurbox returned to layoffs (PHK) ahead of this Eid. This difficult decision had to be taken for the long term sustainability of the business.

Sayurbox CEO & Co-Founder Amanda Susanti said the company’s performance grew strongly in the Business to Business (B2B) segment, but the Business to Consumers (B2C) segment market did not grow as predicted during the pandemic.

Therefore, Sayurbox merged several B2C warehouses, consolidated instant delivery services into same day delivery to increase operational efficiency, as well as restructuring teams to other sales channels within the organization.

“This has forced Sayurbox to have to let go of several members of the B2C team. This decision was not taken lightly, but it is necessary to ensure the company’s long-term sustainability,” said Amanda in a written statement, Friday (14/4/2023).

It is not known exactly how many employees the company has released this time. Previously in December 2022, Sayurbox also laid off 5% of employees.

Amanda said that her party would provide the necessary assistance to parties affected by this decision, including compensation packages in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as providing a number of programs, namely by providing access to job search platforms from companies that have vacancies.

In addition, Sayurbox also provides access to “Sayur Alumni Support”, where affected employees can upload their CVs which will later be given to potential employers such as investors, partners, recruitment agencies and other companies that have job vacancies.

“We understand that this is a challenging time for our team members and their families. We value their contribution and are committed to providing support during this transition,” he said.

“Our goal is to ensure the long-term sustainability of our business so that we can continue to serve market customers, restaurants, supermarkets, export channels and online shopping channels, of course by continuing to support local farmers and producers,” he added.

With this news, it is certain that Sayurbox’s B2B and B2C business and services will continue to operate as usual and will continue to serve loyal customers, both for next day and same day services for the Greater Jakarta and Surabaya areas.

“Sayurbox will continue to build vegetable and fresh product brands in different markets and maintain strong relationships with farmers and partners. Sayurbox believes that this strategic change will position the company to grow and develop better in the future,” he said.
