Sayurbox, Indonesian e-grocery Startup, Implements Layoffs for Long-Term Sustainability

Jakarta

Startup e-grocery sayurbox returned to layoffs (PHK) ahead of Eid. The figure of the owner of Sayurbox was also highlighted along with the company’s layoff policy.

Sayurbox CEO & Co-Founder Amanda Susanti said the company’s performance grew strongly in the Business to Business (B2B) segment, but the Business to Consumers (B2C) segment market did not grow as predicted during the pandemic.

Therefore, this difficult decision had to be taken for the long-term sustainability of the business. Even so, it is not known exactly how many employees the company released this time.

“Sayurbox will provide the necessary assistance to parties affected by this decision, including a compensation package in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” said Sayurbox CEO & Co-Founder Amanda Susanti in a written statement, Friday (14/4/2023) ).

According to Lifepal, the Sayurbox e-grocery tartup was founded by Amanda Cole. He is a businessman who had worked as a private employee before.

Thanks to Sayurbox, which she founded, the owner’s full name Amanda Susanti Cole made it to the Forbes list for the 30 Under 30 category in Industry, Manufacturing & Energy 2019. Forbes awarded Amanda because the Sayurbox business she founded was considered to have had a significant impact on society.

Before establishing Sayurbox, Amanda Cole worked in a private company. Some time later, he decided to build a plantation business with some of his friends. The plantation business that he focused on at that time was selling various plants that were not native to Indonesia and the harvest was distributed to fine dining restaurants.

Because at that time Amanda found various problems with the farmers, where they had difficulty selling their crops. This condition then prompted Amanda to provide a forum for farmers to be able to sell their crops digitally.

After talking with farmers in various parts of Indonesia, especially farmers and suppliers in the regions, Amanda then founded Sayurbox to make distribution of their sales easier to consumers.

Seeing opportunities and social issues that are currently happening, Amanda is determined to establish Sayurbox as a vessel for saving local farmers. With his brilliant idea, he really wanted to help farmers distribute their crops by cutting the distribution chain.

He saw that the distribution chain of farmers in the regions or regional suppliers was very long. Because of that, he also thought about how to create efficiency in distributing local farmers’ produce directly to consumers.

By selling goods in the form of complete vegetables and fruits, directly into the hands of consumers or buyers. He also sees that people’s lifestyles are increasingly appreciating health coupled with the hectic activities outside. By buying online like this, it is finally felt that Sayurbox can be a helper for most urban people. So thanks to that, Sayurbox has finally been able to stand since 2016.
