It seems that the time has come for a swan song for a car that has been a milestone for Renault. Here is which very important model we are preparing to bid farewell for a new heir.
It’s never an easy time for enthusiasts when a historical model of an important brand like Renault retires, but after all already last year it gave us many sad moments in this sense. The official announcement of the manufacturer is still missing but the feeling is that the brand is ready to take the big step forward towards a different future.
The French brand officially presented and with great public interest who witnessed the novelty a very interesting example of zero-emission car destined to take the place – at least according to the sector press – of one of the brand’s most revolutionary cars. But which one are we talking about, the Clio or the Twingo? Neither of them, you guessed it.
It is precisely the small electric twin of the Renault house or the Twizy, now presented in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a ZE prototype or zero emissions after an investment of several billion euros by the French brand which in hindsight was very forward-looking given how the market has evolved in recent decades…
Only the official is missing
It seems like an eternity has passed since 2011, the year in which the little Renault Twizy two-seater, at the time one of the very few electric cars on sale on the market together with the Nissan Leaf and a few other very expensive models, was beginning to make itself known in the world as one of the very first fully functional zero-emission cars. The car was born as a small unpretentious city car.
To give you an idea of how difficult it was to build a car like this, think that it took almost fifteen years why the French house devised a perfect heir for little Twizy which was recently announced by the brand’s official channels. For the moment the small car is still on the French list but the question is how long it will stay there now.
The new car of the brand with the diamond is called Renault Mobilize Duo, a less glamorous name for a much more conventional car that abandons the “individual file” arrangement of the two seats for a wider passenger compartment equipped with padded seats and a bodywork made of recyclable materials. The engine, obviously always electric, guarantees a range of 140 kilometers and the battery can be recharged with the same socket with which you charge your Smartphone.
The car is not yet on the market but it seems a matter of little time: in the meantime, we can enjoy it I received the video which officially unveil the French prototype. Who knows when we will be able to drive it.
