Saxony shortens corona quarantine: These rules will apply from next Monday free press

The quarantine requirement in Saxony is reduced to a few days. The rules are also changing for contact persons.

The quarantine for people who have tested positive for Corona will be shortened in Saxony from next Monday, April 25th. As the Ministry of Social Affairs announced on Thursday, this will only apply for five days.

The prerequisite for this is that those affected have been symptom-free for 48 hours. A free test is then no longer necessary. If those affected still have symptoms after five days, the quarantine is extended to a maximum of ten days. However, it can be ended sooner if there are no more symptoms for 48 hours.

The ministry strongly recommends that those affected inform any contact persons themselves. For these, however, the quarantine obligation is completely eliminated. So far, this has only applied to vaccinated and recovered contact persons. According to the ministry, however, contact persons are still asked to adhere to infection control measures and reduce contacts.

“Infection numbers and bed occupancy have been falling for several weeks. With the end of the season of acute respiratory diseases and more spending time outdoors, the infection pressure also decreases,” said Minister of Social Affairs Petra Köpping, explaining the easing.

There is a restriction for people in nursing, medical care and integration assistance. These must present a negative corona test before resuming work. Again, this only applies to people who have been in quarantine for ten days or less. Everyone else does not have to submit a test.

The rules from April 25 also apply to all those who have previously had to be in quarantine. Anyone who has been in quarantine for at least five days at this point and has not had any symptoms for 48 hours can then end the quarantine. (luka)
