Fire started in an apartment building – suspects identified

The Dresden police caught a suspected arsonist (51) on Wednesday afternoon.

After unknown people set fire to an apartment door in an apartment building on Wurzener Strasse last weekend (see media information no. 574 from October 7, 2024), there was another fire at the same location on Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors extinguished the fire and prevented any major damage.

Following information from witnesses, police officers arrested the 51-year-old German. He now has to answer on suspicion of serious arson. The criminal investigations are ongoing. It will also be checked whether the man was also responsible for the fire at the weekend. (kj)

Cyclist seriously injured in accident

A cyclist (45) suffered serious injuries in an accident at the intersection of Leutewitzer Strasse and Hebbelstrasse.

The driver (77) of a Toyota Corolla was traveling on Leutewitzer Strasse in the direction of Grillparzerstrasse. At the Hebbelstrasse intersection he collided with the cyclist coming from the right. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The material damage amounts to around 1,000 euros. (uh)

Pedestrian seriously injured in collision with cyclist

A cyclist (68) and a pedestrian (94) collided on the Elbe cycle path at the level of the Blaue Wunder. The 94-year-old suffered serious injuries.

The 68-year-old was traveling into the city on the Elbe cycle path when he hit the pedestrian at Am Schillergarten street. The woman fell and was taken to hospital. (uh)

Alleged problems with account – woman cheated out of 9,500 euros

Unknown people cheated a woman (60) out of 9,500 euros on Wednesday afternoon.

They called the 60-year-old and pretended to be an employee of the savings bank. The perpetrators then claimed that there were problems with the woman’s account and got her to confirm a transfer of 9,500 euros online. The woman later became suspicious and called the savings bank. This is how the fraud was discovered.

The police advise:

– Don’t let yourself be put under pressure on the phone!
– Speak to your financial institution if you receive such calls!
– Do not give out any personal account details or TAN numbers over the phone or online!
– Do not transfer money to unknown accounts!
– If you suspect anything, contact the police!

Meißen district

Woman reached into bus steering wheel – witnesses wanted

Police officers from the Meißen district are investigating a dangerous interference with road traffic.

A bus (driver 23) was driving on Salzstrasse. As the bus passed the “Salzstrasse” stop, an unknown woman shouted at the 23-year-old because she wanted to get off. When the unknown woman grabbed the bus driver’s steering wheel, he braked. A woman (80) and a man (57) suffered serious injuries and another inmate (78) suffered minor injuries. The unknown woman got out and walked away.

The traffic accident service is investigating and looking for witnesses who can provide information about the accident and the unknown woman. The Dresden Police Department will receive information on (0351) 483 22 33. (kj)

Motorcyclist slightly injured

A motorcyclist (19) was slightly injured in an accident on Wednesday evening.

The 19-year-old was driving a Suzuki on the B 169 towards Lichtensee. After overtaking a car, he left the road on a curve, hit a wildlife fence and drove into a field. The amount of property damage has not yet been determined. (rr)

Audi stolen

Unknown people stole an Audi SQ5 from the street Behind the Vineyards. There is no information about the value of the nine-year-old car. (kj)

Broken into apartment

Time: October 9, 2024, 4:30 p.m
Location: Meissen

Unknown people broke into an apartment on Schützestrasse.

The perpetrators broke down the apartment door and searched the rooms. They stole a games console and a television worth a total of over 300 euros. The material damage is estimated at around 500 euros. (kj)

Technical system smeared

In the past few days, unknown people have smeared paint on a technical system on Lauchhammerstrasse. The damage amounts to around 2,400 euros. The police are investigating property damage. (rr)

Clash with wild boars

Ort:      Ebersbach, OT Freitelsdorf

A Skoda Octavia (driver 45) collided with wild boars on the S 91. The 45-year-old came from Kalkreuth when three animals ran across the road shortly before Freitelsdorf and collided with the car. Two wild boars died. The Skoda suffered damage worth around 3,000 euros. (kj)

Accident with damage of almost 5,000 euros

An Audi 80 (driver 67) collided with a Nissan Navara (driver 40) on the Am Anger street on Wednesday afternoon.

The 67-year-old drove on Göhraer Straße from Niederebersbach towards Göhra. At the intersection of Göhraer Straße/Am Anger, the Audi collided with the Nissan coming from the left. The damage is estimated at around 5,000 euros. (kj)

Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district

Driving with a blood alcohol level of more than 1.7 per mille

Police officers from the Freital-Dippoldiswalde district are investigating a driver (62) for drunk driving.

Witnesses informed the officers that the 62-year-old wanted to drive off from a parking lot on An der Zschauke in a Peugeot 208, even though she had apparently been drinking alcohol. A breath alcohol test showed the German had a blood alcohol level of more than 1.7 per mille.

The investigation revealed that the woman had recently driven into the parking lot. The police took a blood sample from the woman and confiscated her driver’s license. (rr)

Wrist bag stolen

Location: Pirna-Copitz

Thieves stole the wrist bag of a man (82) in a market on Schillerstrasse.

The 82-year-old had placed the bag, which contained personal documents, in a shoulder bag. He later noticed her absence. The damage is around 25 euros. (uh)

The police advise:

– When shopping, do not put your wallet in your shopping bag, shopping cart or walker!
– Keep your handbag closed and don’t let it out of your sight in the store!
– Store wallets, cell phones and valuables in locked pockets close to your body!
– Keep your distance from strangers and avoid physical contact!

Heavy goods transport left the road

Location: Neustadt in Sachsen, OT Krumhermsdorf

A heavy goods vehicle (driver 40) left Neuhäuser Street and crashed into a hedge.

The MAN with a low trailer was traveling between Neustadt and Ehrenberg when it left the road in a right-hand bend. There was material damage of around 1,000 euros to the road boundary and hedge; the damage to the tractor-trailer has not yet been quantified. Since the heavy goods transport was not approved, the police filed appropriate charges against the driver and the owner. Further travel was prohibited. (uh)
