Saxon Switzerland: Paula (25) and her spectacular souvenir photo | Regional

Dresden – Best climbing and hiking weather in Saxon Switzerland. And mountaineer Paula Scharfe (25) from Dresden turned the world upside down on Saturday.

On the Flohspitze – a 40 meter high sandstone tower near Schmilka – she dared to do a headstand.

Now this spectacular souvenir photo is going around the world, which climbing friend and photographer Mike Jäger (56) took from the exit of the Holy Stairs.

The woman from Dresden has been climbing the Elbe sandstone for years

What you can’t see: a climber is securing it from below with a rope – if Paula Scharfe had overturned, she would have saved the safety device.

The idea with the headstand on the summit came quite spontaneously: “I’ve tried it before on another summit – I thought it would work this time too,” the mountaineer told BILD.

The young woman has been climbing sandstone for ten years. “We went boofing at the weekend and climbing in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, so we are taking a little vacation on our doorstep,” explains the Dresden woman.

Now the spectacular photo could even make it into Jäger’s famous climbing calendar for 2022, which appears annually.
