Sawa’s sweet voice… Greetings, Anna Abdel Masih

The journalists of the Middle East Broadcasting Group (MBN) say goodbye to a colleague from the first generation, whom the listeners of the channel “Radio Sawa” and “Al Hurra” knew as a sweet voice that filled the airwaves air for 19 years.

MBN Acting President, Jeffrey Goodman, mourned the great journalist and broadcaster, Anna Abdel Masih, and said the day of her death was a sad day for MBN and everyone who Anna knew, personally, voice and presence.

Anna died on Friday, after a long battle with the disease.

Gudman said in an obituary that Ann’s kindness “touched the hearts of all who knew her.” She was an enthusiastic colleague who gave energy and generosity.

Her colleagues in the newsroom remember her as a helping hand, a kind heart, and one of the most beautiful voices on Arab radio.
In recent years, Anna has been preparing and presenting episodes of the podcast (Zawya) on Sawa’s digital platforms.

When the disease struck her, it did not stop her from her journalistic work, which she loved and dedicated to. Her editors advised her to take a necessary break, but she insisted on giving, and she continued to be present on television and digitally, in voice and preparation.

Her podcast teammates say she was a source of support when they asked to check on her well-being, even in her final days.

The editors say their commitment to journalistic standards, ethics, and quality of content was outstanding.

Anna joined the Radio Sawa team early, after a distinguished career and a distinguished university education in Lebanon.

Her colleagues remember her cheerful presence, despite the pressure of news in the studio and newsroom, and the high sense of responsibility she exercised, at work and in the family.

Anna was nurtured by new colleagues, who appreciated her love of helping others, her honesty and her loyalty to her profession and to her community, with whom she was related to many social functions.

Ann’s colleagues extend their condolences to her family, especially her husband, Raymond Dounia, her two sons, Joe and Roy, and her loving fans.
