AT Albertville, a town of 20,000 inhabitants in Savoy, the mayor was forced on Friday April 9 by the administrative court of Grenoble to authorize the construction of a private Muslim school, planned for 400 students. The day after this judicial decision, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Laurent Wauquiez, addressed the President of the Republic through a letter, relayed by The Dauphine, in order to ask him to intervene in favor of the elected official and to “prevent the installation of this school”.
“Frédéric Burnier-Framboret (the mayor of Albertville, Editor’s note) is today the subject of strong pressure from the Islamist organization Millî Görüs”, pleads Laurent Wauquiez, recalling that the association’s links with the Turkey. According to the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, this school project would organize “the cutoff between the Turkish community and the rest of the town, with a disproportionate project which includes 16 classes, a gymnasium and which is intended to accommodate 400 pupils, that is to say the equivalent of a quarter of the pupils of Albertville ”.
Wauquiez denounces political “hypocrisies”
Referring to the bill on separatism, Laurent Wauquiez reminds Emmanuel Macron that the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, “himself designated Millî Görüs as being” enemies of the Republic “”. This same organization is at the origin of a mosque project in Strasbourg. On March 22, the ecological municipality voted on the “principle” of a subsidy of more than 2.5 million euros, attracting very strong criticism from the government.
