His voice rang out at the opening ceremony The 44th Cairo International Film FestivalAnd her image fills the screens, and her smile increases the joy of the party and caresses the hearts of those present with warm memories and lasting nostalgia. The voice comes from behind the flashing lights:
“God, God, God…
People are your loved ones, I will be with you..
Almighty.. Almighty..
Live with us, this life wants you
Unfortunately, it seems that the artist who called everyone: “Live with us, this is life, I want you”, has not found anyone to tell him: we are too.
“It was needed
You need to get..
He will definitely need it.”
To the tune of that song, the dancers paraded in the opening ceremony, and at the same time there was a “need to happen”, which was the sale of the personal belongings of the great artist Samir Sabry, honorary shields, posters for his films , his private photos and part of his press archive.
All this is happening, and the great artist Hussein Fahmy recounts the memories of the love between him and “Samir Sabry”, recounting the sarcastic and funny dialogues that took place between them, while the atmosphere of selling his possessions was only sarcastic .
This is a crime by all standards, as the deceased artist was not an ordinary artist, but rather an encyclopedia of mobile art, an actor he was, a singer he was, a journalist he was, and also a producer , and while what “ The Seventh Day ” gets less than a few, but nobody knows, what did it actually sell and were those holdings the beginning or end of the sales?
A complete album of the wonderful photos taken during the filming of the film “Warm Embraces” as they appear on the 1974 film of the film, produced in the world. This picture was taken by photographer “Mohamed Gohar”, in which Samir Sabry plays the lead role, alongside Zubaida Tharwat and Samir Ghanem, Emad Hamdi, Fatima Mazhar and Fayez Halawa, directed by Najdi Hafez, written by Ahmed Saleh, and a story and screenplay by Mahmoud Abu Zaid.
A large-scale comprehensive album of around 150 rare photos taken by photographer Mohamed Bakr for the film “The Poisoned Family House”, directed by Mohamed Abdel Aziz and scripted by Ahmed Saleh about Ismail Wali El-Din.
A complete album of a part of Samir Sabry’s press archive, which contains many rare photos that embody the stages of his life, his most important films and his most important media stations, and in it we see his photos with Abdel Halim Hafez during the filming of the first television festival, as we see his photos with English actress Diana Drill and director Anthony Thomas, as well as his photos with “Al-Salakhana” fans and his photos playing football wearing a Zamalek team t-shirt, and his photos with Nora, Farid Shawky, Abdel Moneim Madbouly, Shadia, Esaad Younes and Nelly, Adel Adam, Magda Al-Khatib, Abdel Moneim Ibrahim, Najwa Fouad and Sabah, all this plus many photos of him during Introducing him to the International Club program, during which he hosted most of Egypt’s stars and elite.
As for the rare posters of the late great man’s most important films, there is nothing wrong with them, and they varied between large and medium-sized posters, for important films such as (Welcome Captain 1978 – Betrayal 1989 – A house without Tenderness 1976 – Hell Under Water 1989 – Suspicious Liaisons 1996 – Her Majesty the Tears 1992 – The Poisoned Family House 1986 – The Slaughterhouse 1982 – The Game of Killing 1994 – The Delicious Killing 1998 – Son of the Mountain – 1992)
Perhaps it is also sad that among these funds we find honorary shields for the deceased artist who bears his name, such as the shield donated by the Farid al-Atrash Lovers Association for the Care of Artistic Talents, on which was written “a dedication to the great artist and pioneering journalist Samir Sabry” in appreciation of your outstanding donation, and a shield Another presented by the Shamoua Charitable Association, which reads: “Thank you and appreciation.. The Shamoua Association for Patient Care thanks lead artist “Samir Sabry ” for his active role towards the Shamoua Association. Indeed, these shields reflect an important aspect of the interests, activities of the deceased artist and his relationship with his community and also with his art.
I am not exaggerating when I say that the artist, Samir Sabry, was one of the few artists whose love and appreciation is unanimous for all, he defended his homeland with love or work, and even in his last days Samir Sabri insisted on announcing his donation to his library at the Ministry of Culture, which is a library rich in all kinds of art, and contains many important archival materials, telling his life as an artist or his generation of artists, and for this reason it was our great shock when we saw many of his personal effects at antique dealers, while his voice recommending that the Ministry of Culture take over his artistic legacy is still resounding.
“I loved and I died, and I wish it was a dream that it wasn’t.
So sang Samir Sabry in the film “The Most Dangerous Man Alive” and the dancers at the opening ceremony of the Cairo Film Festival also danced to that song. Then we were surprised by that unfortunate incident and that unpleasant surprise, of I mean , were saved, but the sad thing is that these items were not meant to be sold on the pavements of the Friday market.
Sugar is sweet, we have sugar.. Sugar, by God, the world is sugar
Can we now enjoy the peace of mind when we see this man’s legacy on the sidewalks? Is it really “the sweetness of the world is as beautiful as sugar?” And have we failed to preserve this artistic heritage, which dates back to an important era of Egyptian art? There are many questions that the Ministry of Culture needs to answer, especially if we take into account that Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani has formed committees to examine, count and preserve this rare artistic heritage, but we do not know what happened and how these artistic funds leaked to this fate?
