Asunción: Imagine that you go to your cooperative and want to withdraw the money deposited there, but you are told that this is not possible at the moment. About 120 savers in a cooperative feel the same way.
Several members expressed concern about the impending bankruptcy of the Multiactiva Yvapovo Ltda. Cooperative, which could result in the loss of their deposits. In most of these cases, they reported that the institution had refused to give them their savings.
In the past few days, several cases have surfaced of people who had deposited their savings in the Yvapovo cooperative and are now afraid of losing their money after being unable to withdraw it.
One such case is that of Zunilda Domínguez, who told Radio Ñanduti that the institution appears to be on the verge of bankruptcy and that they have been told that they no longer have the money from their savings.
“We don’t have the interest or the principal and we strive to get that amount of our money back,” she said. In your specific case, the amount owed is 120 million guaranies.
She also reported that several of the elderly in this situation were unable to leave their homes to make appropriate claims.
Domínguez also mentioned that she filed several complaints about the Yvapovo cooperative case with the National Cooperative Institute (INCOOP), the regulator of the sector, but received no response.
According to internal information from members, the cooperative has had financial problems for some time due to the mismanagement of its directors who would have granted loans without repayment. Therefore, they cannot pay off the savings today.
About 120 people are currently affected by not being able to withdraw their savings from the Yvaypovo cooperative, Dominguez estimated.
A demonstration in front of INCOOP headquarters is planned for this morning to demand that the problem be resolved in a timely manner and that they can get their money back.
