The event about Austrian women’s sports is taking place for a second time in Linz.
Advantage Ladies! Under this motto, the FE&MALE Sports Conference will be held on January 31, 2024 as part of the world-class tennis tournament Upper Austria Ladies Linz. It is the second edition of a top-class, all-day conference that celebrated its premiere this February as the 1st Austrian Women’s Sports Symposium. The organizers are the Upper Austria Ladies Linz as Austria’s most important women’s sports event, the federal sports organization Sport Austria and the Austrian Tennis Association (ÖTV).
“For me personally, the FE&MALE Sports Conference is an essential cornerstone of our tournament program. After upgrading to 500 status, we have even more appeal and want to offer an even larger stage and platform for important social issues. We are more than just a tennis tournament,” said tournament director Sandra Reichel. “I am very happy that we have strong partners at our side in Sport Austria and ÖTV, with whom we are once again working on a spectacular program. The FE&MALE Sports Conference also shows that once again important impulses for women’s sports come from the city of Linz and the state of Upper Austria. A big thank you for that.”
The Upper Austria Ladies, the second oldest women’s indoor tennis tournament in the world, will take place for the first time as a WTA 500 tournament from January 28th to February 4th, 2024 at the Design Center Linz. The symposium will once again be held in the Design Center’s congress hall with its outstanding technical infrastructure and auditorium that can accommodate up to 500 people. Advance sales for tickets, which include a visit to the evening matches, began this Thursday. The first program highlights will be presented on December 1st at a press conference with Vice Chancellor and Sports Minister Werner Kogler.
Together in sport with an equality between women and men
The aim of the premiere event on February 10, 2023 was to make women’s sport more visible, position it more clearly and strengthen it overall. The second edition will now be taken to the next level with a new focus – hence the new name: FE&MALE Sports Conference. This symposium deliberately addresses not only women, but also men to the same extent. It’s about coexistence in sport with women and men being equal. Solutions are offered and concrete projects are presented in case studies and best practice examples. The panels will once again feature top-class people. Politicians have already signaled interest in participating at the highest levels from the city, state and federal government. Vice Chancellor and Sports Minister Kogler and Women’s Minister Susanne Raab, among others, took part in the premiere event.
The Upper Austria Ladies Linz has been setting an exclamation mark for women’s sports in Austria for decades. In 2024, the Linz tennis classic will celebrate its 33rd edition. In its conception as a WTA 500 event, it continues the four-pillar strategy that was so successful this year. This includes events in the areas of promoting women, inclusion, promoting young talent and sustainability.
