The incident that starred the player Cristiano Ronaldo in the defeat of Manchester United against Everton, in England, had consequences for his image as an ambassador.
According to The Sun newspaper, the international non-governmental organization (NGO) Save the Children will no longer count on the Portuguese soccer player as an ambassador, after he broke the phone of a 14-year-old fan with autism when he was heading through the locker room tunnel. After the fact, the minor’s mother spoke with the Liverpool Echo about what happened and also published the photographs of how her son’s hand and the electronic device turned out.

However, the Portuguese striker publicly apologized after the incident that cost him the image of the NGO that promotes aid to the smallest and most disadvantaged.
“It is never easy to deal with emotions in difficult times like the one we are experiencing. However, we always have to be respectful, patient and set an example for all young people who love the beautiful game. I would like to apologize for my outburst and if possible I would like to invite this fan to watch a match at Old Trafford as a show of fair play and sportsmanship.”
While the police investigation in the country of the event continues, Manchester United was willing to collaborate with the information that is needed in the case that has the minor as a victim.
“We are aware of an alleged post-match incident at Everton and the club will co-operate with any police investigation,” they said.
